Hump Day Wednesday – 05/10/2011
It’s Wednesday which means it is Hump Day. What is hump day you may ask yourself? To get a full understanding what it is and why we do it then you have to check out our original Hump Day Wednesday photo.
Basically we will post a new photo up each Wednesday of something that we have found helps us imagine what we might get up to this weekend. It could be just a nice relaxing beach, some nice surf, a great snorkelling spot, a destination, you get the idea. In the end its just going to be a picture of whatever I feel like putting up that reminds me of some good times.
This was taken in the middle of winter and features the frozen river and waterfall in Maligne Canyon in Jasper Canada. Note, if you squint closely you can see a climber about 3/4′s of the way up this ice stack. During the winter the temperatures reached a ball-numbing -37 degrees Celsius (yes NEGATIVE)! In the middle of summer its a rushing torrent that drains out to the Athabasca River eventually reaching the West Coast of Canada. And this weekend we are off to try our first ever ice climbing experience (it is indoors but it is expected to snow in the Highlands this weekend, hello winter). All in all should be interesting considering I hate heights…
What does this photo make you think about to get you through to the end of the week?

What an amazing photo. I think that if I can survive -37 degrees Celcius, I’ll probably get through anything!!
Thanks Anis. Yea we worked on the ski field in Jasper for the winter and I had partial frostbite on my nose twice from the cold. Anything over -30 and they closed the mountains (happened twice).
